Abstract

Leadership has been an important issue down the centuries, but nurses have often not seen their role as leaders, as they tend to be drawn from those who are 'caring, task-orientated people carrying out the tasks of a doctor'. As more nurse leaders are needed, training and development will be delivered on the basis of transformational leadership, increasing levels of motivation and team working. This article explores how this will be implemented within General Practice.
