Abstract

Eastern Europe is among the major sources of human trafficking into other European nations. This presentation will focus on Romania as a case study of country of origin for human trafficking, and will provide a brief background and an overview of the current magnitude of trafficking from Romania, an analysis of push and pull factors, most common types of human trafficking and victims’ profiles. The presentation will highlight the efforts to prevent human trafficking in Romania and will signpost areas where cross-country collaboration may be needed for effectively tackling the issues of human trafficking.
