Abstract

An outline of the causes of eating disorders in young people. Including anorexia nervosa. Anorexia nervosa has the highest morbidity of any mental illness. Children and young people require treatment from a systemic view. Practice nurses can be in a unique position in being able to identify early signs. Practice nurses have opportunities to make links with CAMHS and can have an ongoing role given the average length of illness is 5 years.
